High blood pressure often requires daily medication to control its potentially damaging effects. For many people, a daily intake of drug medication is not something they are completely comfortable with, which is why most people prefer to use natural remedies for high blood pressure where possible, as an acceptable alternative to drugs. If they find a natural alternative that can control their hypertension just as well, they are likely to try it. Why not right?

The natural remedies for high blood pressure in their various forms will be examined in this article, especially those that have been backed up by laboratory proof, as well as those that have strong supporting circumstantial evidence of their effectiveness.

While there can be many serious underlying causes for high blood pressure, such as kidney disease for example, many cases of high blood pressure are probably the result of consuming the wrong foods, or bad lifestyle habits. It is in these cases that natural remedies for high blood pressure work best. However, natural remedies should not be considered a substitute for any medication that may have been prescribed by a doctor. It shoule be use together. However, your doctor knows best. It’s best that you consult him as well.

People with mild high blood pressure may benefit from using garlic. Trials have shown a significant reduction in both systolic and diastolic levels in patients with mild hypertension who used a garlic powder supplement. Garlic in tablet form is also easily available at any pharmacy.

Statin drugs are used to lower high blood pressure, but it has been shown in studies that red grapefruit can actually have a greater beneficial effect. Good results have been seen with white grapefruit too, but not as good as with red grapefruit. It seems that red grapefruit is high in antioxidents. These reduce triglcerides, which simply means that eating several red grapefruit a day is one of the most excellent natural remedies for high blood pressure.

A recent study has found that eating dark chocolate can be nearly as effective in lowering blood pressure as many of the common anti-hypertensive medications. The reason for the effectiveness of dark chocolate seems to lie in polyphenols, a chemical substance, and of course, it’s also a pleasant natural remedy to take at the same time. Dark chocolate is ok, but try to avoid sugars and get the one without any sugar added.

Polyphenols are found in abundance in fruit and vegetables, also excellent sources of good natural remedies for high blood pressure, as well as in tea and chocolate. Tests have found that eating just three and a half ounces of dark chocolate a day can produce “clinically significant” results on subjects with high blood pressure. Perhaps changing from drinking coffee to drinking tea is also a good idea, as tea consumption can help to reduce high blood pressure, while drinking coffee will not.

If you stop smoking, reduce your intake of alcohol, and lose excess weight, these are all effective natural remedies for high blood pressure. Other natural remedies include drinking more water, exercising daily, eating less salt, including more fibre in your diet, and even enjoying a glass of red wine occasionally, but not overdoing it.

Magic cures don’t exist with high blood pressure, but being sensible and doing the things that naturally help, does work. Change your lifestyle and your eating habits, if they are working against you. It’s the little things that make the most sense, and that’s where you’ll find the best natural remedies for high blood pressure.

Detecting high blood pressure may not be easy as the symptoms are subtle and can easily be overlooked. In this article we’ll discuss what is recognized as being normal blood pressure, called primary or essential blood pressure, what is known as secondary blood pressure, and what are the typical symptoms of high blood pressure you should be looking for. High blood pressure symptoms can be worrying, but with the right information and the appropriate treatment, they need not be a cause for undue concern.

Normal blood pressure is not a fixed figure. However, if you check, a reading of 120/80 mmHg is very good for a healthy adult at rest. There are two figures to consider. The first is called the systolic and it measures the maximum blood pressure that the heart pumps. The second is called the diastolic and it measures the pressure of the heart at rest when it isn’t pumping hard.

You are unlikely to have any particular symptoms if either of the figures are considered too high, or more than 140/90. Hypertension is sometimes known as the silent killer as there are often no high blood pressure symptoms to warn you of the danger. Symptoms do sometimes accompany the condition, such as dizziness, headaches and nausea, as well as blurred vision, but the situation is further complicated by the fact that these symptoms can be experienced from other causes too.

Around 90 percent of people are affected by essential, or primary, high blood pressure. The cause is usually not obvious and can’t be pinned down to a single factor. There are a number of lifestyle causes though, and these include being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, too little exercise, an unsuitable diet and an adverse family history. While you can’t do much about your family history, you certainly can make changes in your lifestyle.

A known and recognized condition can usually be linked to secondary high blood pressure. Diseases such as endoctrine disease or diseased kidneys can be the cause, or a condition where the aorta has narrowed, or even pregnancy. Some 5% to 8% of women experience pre-eclampsia, for example. Women who use the contraceptive pill, or those who take steroid medication can also be at risk.

Organ damage, because of many years spent living with dangerously high blood pressure, is unfortunately the ultimate in high blood pressure symptoms. Stroke and heart attack are common and probably the most familiar, but problems such as peripheral arterial disease affecting the arteries going to and coming from the heart is also a possibility, as is eye damage leading to blindness and failure of the kidneys.

You can easily keep dangerous levels of high blood pressure in control with regular medical check-ups and careful monitoring. A wide range of medications are available and are adequate in keeping blood pressure within acceptable limits.

Have your blood pressure checked and don’t put it off just because you feel fine. They call it the silent killer because there are often no high blood pressure symptoms to warn you of the danger, so get your blood pressure checked today to put your mind at rest and stay safe.

What are the causes of high blood pressure? Make a visit to the doctor and he will give you a very long list. It can be due to a lot of things. There are many things that combine to create the condition. You could have inherited it from your family history. It’s difficult, or impossible even, to change the things you inherit, but it’s usually easy to change the things you do that cause hypertension. In the rest of this article I will look closely at the consequences of eating the wrong foods, the effects of carrying being overweight, and the results of not exercising enough. These three factors alone cause more high blood pressure in people than anything else.

Too much salt in your food is not good if you have high blood pressure. However, it is very easy to correct the problem; stop adding salt on your food. You have to becareful with processed foods though. They usually contain added salt for flavor. Read the labels and the list of ingredients of all the foods you buy carefully.

Once in a while, alcoholic drink is fine, especially a little red wine, but when you overdo it, your blood pressure goes way up. The worst thing you can do is binge drink. It shoots up you blood pressure a lot, and if you binge drink often, then your blood pressure stays high. Enjoy the occasional drink by all means, but don’t overdo it. To be safe, don’t drink at all.

While not exactly a food, smoking can also be a factor of raised blood pressure. Smoking is not natural. We do not need it, so the answer is simple: stop smoking. Of course, this is not simple for everyone, but it is something you really need to do if you are serious about lowering dangerous blood pressure levels.

Are you overweight? I don’t necessarily mean fat, just carrying more weight than you should be carrying is overweight. Being overweight is one of the major causes of high blood pressure. You gain weight by consuming more food than you need, so lose some weight by eating a little less than you need. You don’t have to starve yourself. Do that and it might kill you. You just need to discipline yourself to eat less and watch your blood pressure go down by itself.

Do you exercise enough? Regularly? Probably not … Most people don’t. You don’t have to jog strenuously on a five mile slog every day. Walking a mile a day will take around 15 minutes. A 30 minutes walk is quite enough. Can you spare 30 minutes a day to help reduce your high blood pressure? Of course you can! If you can’t do it daily, at least start with 30 minutes a day for 3 days in a week. You can see the difference in just a few weeks. Later, increase it to daily. You can jog or go to the gym if you prefer, but a brisk walk is all you really need. Once you get used to walking, find other natural ways to be more physically active and reap even more benefits.

There are lots of causes of high blood pressure and there are ways to avoid or at least control it. Make a start today by facing up to three of the most common causes of high blood pressure – too much salt in you food, being overweight and not getting enough exercise. Other causes of high blood pressure exist of course, but if you get these 3 ‘fixed’, it will make a huge difference to your life.

You have heard about high blood pressure, do you know what it is? Or do you have it? This is actually a good question you should ask yourself, particularly as you grow older and become more at risk from the effects of high blood pressure. The illness is sometimes known as the silent killer as it doesn’t usually make its presence known. You feel fine, even though you are in danger.

High blood pressure is confirmed when blood pressure is observed to be maintained at a point above 140/90 mmHg. That likely means nothing to you. The 140 part is the systolic pressure. This is a measure of artery pressure when there is blood pumping through the arteries. The 90 part is the diastolic pressure. This is a measure of the pressure when the heart is at rest and relaxed. If a blood pressure reading confirms either of the two levels higher than normal, and sustained at that level, you have hypertension, or high blood pressure.

It is absolutely common for blood pressure to rise when we undergo any kind of exertion. In healthy persons, the heightened pressure drops back to normal levels very fast again once the exertion stops. This does not occur with people who have got high blood pressure as it takes longer with them for the pressure to drop, and it will still remain elevated. This is especially so if you eat the wrong foods, if you are overweight, and if you fail to workout regularly.

If you worry unnecessarily over your high blood pressure, you may find the stress created actually causes high blood pressure! Yes, stress is a prime cause of the problem. Our lives always have a level of stress, but it’s when the stress becomes uncontrollable that our blood pressure can become sustained at a high level. Eliminating stress from our lives is not always simple and easy, but it is something we should all try to accomplish.

The signs and symptoms of high blood pressure are generally not obvious at all. It’s one of the main reasons why people sometimes question, what is high blood pressure; they can’t feel it or see it, and it doesn’t usually affect their normal day-to-day routine in any way. That’s why it is often called to as the silent killer. If you have sustained high blood pressure over time, you are much more prone to a heart attack or a stroke.

In some circumstances persons may experience mild to severe headaches, dizziness or nausea as an effect of having high blood pressure. Nonetheless, these warning signs can be experienced as a result of other, not related, reasons. If you experience any of these symptoms, the best approach to know for certain what is causing them is to get your blood pressure measured by a physician.

You need to take some kind of positive action if you find out you have high blood pressure. The foods you eat matter. Cut out salt in your diet, if possible. Cut out alcohol too, or cut down as much as possible. Do it slowly and stop. If you are a smoker, stop now. It isn’t easy, but it is important. Start getting regular exercise too, and plenty of it. If you do these things, then soon you won’t have to worry about what is high blood pressure.

Learn more about high blood pressure

The categories of high blood pressure have been reduced, and our recommendations about early treatment have changed as well. New drugs are available and old ones are off the market. A major Medicare drug plan, Part D, has confused millions of elderly Americans and changed how they pay for their drugs, including those for high blood pressure. These changes alone are more than enough justification for a new edition of High Blood Pressure For Dummies. This edition has more emphasis on prevention.

We all know that breakfast is on of the most important meals of the day. However, a typical breakfast may not give you the protein you need to get through the day. Breakfast is important because good eating habits with good nutrient combinations early in the day will have an impact on your energy and efficiency.

Breakfast is made all the more crucial because it adds much needed ‘fuel’ to your body after it has gone the whole night without food. Starting your day with the right breakfast is important. You should start with something that is high on nutrition to ensure that your body doesn’t go into starvation mode and cause you to overeat by lunchtime. Having breakfast will also gets your metabolism running which in turn helps your body burn more calories.

When it comes to breakfast, one important, must have component is protein. Protein is the building block for cells and it plays a key role in repairing body tissues and contributing to healthy skins, nails, etc. It also helps the body produce enzymes and hormones, and stabilizes emotions.

Eggs have the highest quality protein of any food, second to the lactalbumin protein in human milk, but how many eggs is enough to give you the protein you need. You should get something simpler like Nature’s Plus Spiru-Tein High Protein Energy Meal, Vanilla 2.4 Pounds. Spiru-Tein delivers a healthy infusion of plant-based protein, along with other essential nutrients. Each serving 100% of recommended daily value of vitamins A, B12, C, D, and E
Creamy vanilla flavor and you could mix it with milk, soy milk, or juice.

What others a saying about Nature’s Plus Spiru-Tein High Protein Energy Meals:

Lulu – I love this drink. It’s a bit of an acquired taste–I found it a little bit chalky, but I love it now. It’s full of essential nutrients, so it’s completely worth the cost. The chocolate flavor is by far the best in my humble opinion. I usually combine a cup (it comes with its own measuring cup) with a cup of skim milk and blend it. Mixing it together without a blender causes it to clump something awful, so a blender is definitely essential. I recommend pouring how much milk you intend to drink in the your designated drinking vessel first before you blend; the shake has a tendency to froth and this way you don’t end up with excess sitting in the blender. Generally I’ve found that on the days that I have time to drink this shake (washing the blender in the morning can prove to be a bit much) I have more energy and just feel…healthier. You really can’t go wrong with this drink. I found that drinking this as a meal replacement aid was very helpful in weight loss.

B. Pack – After reading reviews of so many shakes I finally decided to try the spriutein nature’s plus vanilla. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. So many reviews on healthy protein shakes say they taste horrible, are too sweet…etc… but this shake is not too sweet, has and has a pleasant vanilla taste. I mixed mine with ice and almond milk in the blender. It came out thick like a real “milkshake” it has a slightly khaki/light green color, but that isn’t undesireable. The mixed shake was not only thick, but also smooth and yummy. Unlike so many shake mixes I have tried before, I enjoyed drinking this shake! Since I mixed with with ice, the crushed ice may have masked the grittiness that some complain of, I don’t know….. I will try it without ice and see if there is a difference. I am thinking it would taste great with a few strawberries mixed in too!
